NVM Help

Definitions:

Image Window - any of the regions in the main showing image data. The mouse must be over one of these regions for keyboard commands to be recognized.

Contour - 2D list of points, not necessarily closed; created by iso-intensity contour tool or drawn, edited, and then “extracted” into an Outline.

Outline - a closed, 8-connected list of points in a particular 2D slice with an associated neuroanatomical label. Voxels in an outline are defined to be half in and half out of the neuroanatomical structure. The origin (0,0) is at the upper left corner of the slice. Each point is given as a (column, row) pair.

Outline Volume - the number of voxels that can be flood filled inside the outline, plus 1/2 of the number of unique voxels in the outline itself, multiplied by the volume of a voxel. This means that if an outline, e.g. "White Matter", is contained within another outline, e.g. "Exterior", the volume of the Exterior includes the volume of the White Matter. The volume of, e.g. "Cortex" would then be the White Matter volume subtracted from the Exterior volume.

Segmenter - (ends in "er") the user of NVM. One who segments.

Segmentor - (ends in "or") the NVM scripting feature comprised of XML and HTML files. The name is derived from "Segmentation Mentor".
