Keyboard Commands
Menu
- "Alt" menu access
- * Pressing "Alt" and the underlined character will select that
menu: Alt-f File, Alt-e Edit, Alt-w Windows, Alt-h Help
- Keyboard-Menu equivalents
- * Alt-x Cut (currently selected outline or contour)
- * Alt-q Quit
Image Window
- Tool Changing
- * select already active tool again: Sets the current tool to the previously selected
tool. Example: while drawing ('d'), set eraser ('q') to erase something,
then pressing 'q' (Erase Tool is already selected) to return to Draw
Tool. Note: this feature is turned off by default.
See the "Keys" tab in the "General" preferences
to turn it on.
- * " " (space) Base Mode: Sets the current tool to the arrow (selection)
tool.

contour tool.
- * “d” Set Draw Tool: Sets the current tool to the
manual drawing tool.
- * "f" Fill and Histogram: take a histogram over the outline region
indicated by the current mouse position. This opens the histogram window
if it is not already open.
- * "A" AutoContour: show AutoContour window. This is the same
as showing the window from the Window menu.

- * "g" Set nudGe Tool: Sets the current tool to the nudge tool.
- * "G" When Nudge Tool is selected, undo last nudge
- Contours
- * "E" - Extract: extracts (converts) a contour into an outline.
For this version of extract, the final outline will depend on the current
contours only (not on any outlines which may be present). The contour
to be extracted is the first one above the current mouse position. The
extracted outline is selected. Use the Edit:Preferences menu to select
the contour colors that will be extracted.
- * "e" - Extract All: extracts (converts) a contour into an outline.
For this version of extract, "All" means the final outline will depend
on contours and outlines. The contour to be extracted is the first
one above the current mouse position. The extracted outline is selected.
Use the Edit:Preferences menu to select the contour colors that will be
extracted.
- * "I" - Inside-Re-Extract: unextracts most recently extracted
outline, converts it into a contour, then re-extracts it from the inside.
Like "i" below except it only considers contours like "E" above.
- * "i" - Inside-Re-Extract All: unextracts most recently extracted
outline, converts it into a contour, then re-extracts it from the inside.
"All" means it considers both contours and outlines like "e" above.
- * "x" - Delete Contour: clears the current contour
color for the current slice.
- * "X" - Delete Most Contours: clears all extractable contour
colors for the current slice.
- * "ctrl-X" - Delete All Contours: clears all contour colors
for the current slice.
- * "v" - Promote Selected Contour: changes the color of the currently
selection contour to the next one to the right (wraps around if at end).
- * "V" - Demote Selected Contour: changes the color of the currently
selection contour to the next one to the left (wraps around if at end).
- "C" Cut contour
- * "Z" - Clear all: UN-extracts all outlines and also clears
most contour colors for the current slice. This is like pressing "W" and
then
"X".
- * "ctrl-Z" - Clear all: UN-extracts all outlines and also clears
all contour colors for the current slice. This is like pressing "W" and
then "ctrl-X".
- * " " (space) - un-select currently selected contour.
- Outlines
- * "w" - Delete Last Outline: UN-extracts the last outline that
was extracted. This can be repeated until all outlines are gone.
- * "W" - Delete All Outlines: UN-extracts all outlines in the
current slice.
- * "Z" - Clear all: UN-extracts all outlines and also clears all
contour colors for the current slice. This is like pressing "W" and then
"X".
- * "ctrl-Z" - Clear all: UN-extracts all outlines and also clears
all contour colors for the current slice. This is like pressing "W" and
then "ctrl-X".
- * ctrl-l (control lower case "L") - Load: load the outlines for
the current slice. This is the same as pressing the "load otl" button.
- * ctrl-L (control upper case "L") - Load: all outlines. This
is the same as pressing shift and the "load otl" button at the same time.
- * ctrl-s (control lower case "S") - Save: save the outlines for
the current slice. This is the same as pressing the "Save otl" button.
- * ctrl-S (control upper case "S") - Save: save all outlines.
This is the same as pressing shift and the "Save otl" button at the same
time.
- * ctrl-o (control lower case letter "O") - Overwrite outline:
save the outlines for the current slice without asking if it is ok to
overwrite the existing file. (This used to be ctrl-w).
- * ctrl-O (control upper case letter "O") - Overwrite ALL outlines:
save the outlines for the all slices without asking if it is OK to overwrite
the existing files.
- * " " (space) - UN-select currently selected outline.
- * "s" Toggle left/right in label under
cursor.
- * "m" load outlines from 3D mask for this slice
- * "M" load outlines from 3D mask for all
slices
- * "ctrl-f" (control lower case "F") - Find Label:
starting at the current slice, search through all slices for the label
currently selected in the Label Tool. There are two version of the "Find"
command. This one searches for labels after everything is drawn.
The other version (only available through a menu in the Label Tool) searches
through every outline in each slice.
- * "ctrl-g" (control lower case "G") - Replace
and Find again: After using ctrl-f to find a label, use the Label Tool
to change the currently selected label. Then ctrl-g will replace the
latest found outline's label and then find another.
- Show/Hide
- * "r" - show/hide contours: shows or hides contours for the current
slice. The contours still exist (i.e. they are not deleted). This is the
same as changing the "show contours" check button in the image's view.
- * "R" - show/hide outlines: shows or hides outlines for the current

are not deleted). This is the same as changing the "show extractable
contours"
check button in the image's view.
